I’ve been trialling the new Twitter concept called Fleets. Its like Instagram stories, but different.
This post contains a 4.30 min demo video for Twitter mobile and is best viewed at hmmstudio.com.
Fleeting thoughts pop into your head and you Fleet about them.
The fleet can just be text messages. OR Fleet an image and add text to the image like a meme OR Fleet a Gif – in testing you currently can’t add text to a gif, but the guide I was shown by twitter says that you can. So probably an early testing glitch. * The visual guide is screen recorded in my demo video. OR Capture a video for a fleeting moment.
You can add one fleet after another to create a swipe up time line for the day or add info to your original fleeting thought. Make a list of thoughts as they pop into your head, which are displayed as a swipe up list in the one Fleet in chronological order.
Fleets stay visible for 24 hours and are then automatically deleted.
No public comments can be made
No re-tweets ๐
No Likes โค๏ธ
Anyone who can see your twitter profile, can see your Fleets.
If you have DMs turned on, anyone who can see your profile and the Fleet, can reply a private message directly through the Fleet
If you have DMs turned off, only people you follow can reply via DM directly through the Fleet.
I really enjoyed Fleeting. Its great, as there is no worry about it being a permanent twitter record.
“Fleets cover the middle ground between having a public Twitter account and a private Twitter account.”

Often with public accounts you would love the ability to just relax a little and not deal with comments or your followers being harassed by others who see their comments. This gives you options, and they are always private no matter which option you choose. It’s placed at the top of your feed next to your Avatar icon, so there is easy access and no scrolling through tweets to view it.
It gets a ๐ thumbs up from me. As someone who Gifs a lot and does short artistic videos, I would like to be able to add text straight onto the Gif or video, so hopefully that mobile glitch will be ironed out.
